The Repair Shop

"Have you ever watched The Repair Shop on BBC? The show where people bring in their precious items for restoration. These items have many memories associated with them, some happy, some sad. Often the object connects the living person with a deceased family member, parent or sibling, perhaps a friend. Memories may also provoke an emotional response as the person gets in touch with the story related to the object. Emotional responses may be stronger when the object is restored to its former glory.

When you attend therapy you may bring your thoughts and memories to session, together we can safely explore the feelings associated with your story. When we allow ourselves to feel and understand the emotional responses connected to our story, we may be able to understand them more, see patterns and begin to repair our pain.

In the same way the experts at The Repair Shop take great care in restoring items back to their former glory, I too take great care in supporting and helping you to understand and restore your emotional well-being. As a person centred trained therapist I respect that your experience is unique. I will attempt to understand things from your perspective, taking things at your speed, supporting you whichever emotion you feel. Together we can work towards understanding your pain and restoring your happiness."
