Men And Mental Health
Ed Sheeran has recently spoken candidly about his mental health struggles. According to reports he has always grappled with depression for the majority of his life, it only worsened when he lost two of his best friends. He has also spoken about his bouts with suicidal thoughts. In another interview, he spoke about what he describes as the “lowest” point in his life. Ed said that he "spiralled through fear, depression and anxiety" after his wife was diagnosed with a tumour and his close friend died.
Explore Counselling is passionate about helping men open up and talk about their struggles. We often concentrate on our outward appearance, visible to others, as a result our mental health may take a back seat. Explore Counselling can help men access therapy quickly, allowing them to feel heard and supporting their mental health.
It can be difficult for men to open up about their struggles. As men we may feel expected to just put up and shut up. Our earlier experience growing up conditions us to always show resilience whatever we may be feeling. Explore can provide a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space for men to talk about their feelings and emotions. Our person-centred approach means that we recognise you as an individual and accept that experience is unique to us all.
Ed Sheeran’s bravery in opening up about his mental health struggles is an inspiration to us all. By accessing therapy with Explore Counselling, you too can take the first step towards improving your mental health.
